does anything work?

Postby ashten on Sun Aug 30, 2009 5:00 pm

i'm only 21, i was diagnosed about a year ago. since then ive been to numerous doctors and tried many diff. drugs, etc. (the usual story). i've been on prozac, cymbalta, savella, soma, lyrica, zoloft, and ambien (although i probly 4got a few). the ambien has been a lifesavor for my sleep, but nothing helps my pain or numerous other symptoms. i used to buy lortabs (hydrocodone), or any other opiates i cud find off the street, but that got too expensive (and addictive). I feel like ive tried everything (as im sure all of you do) and no one understands. i feel like fibro has taken my whole life away... including my personality (which hurts the most). does anyone know of anything that works... even a little? i dont want to live like this anymore.

Re: does anything work? YES and natural!!!

I recently tried topical eucalyptus oil and have had great success. I was at a craft show and in a lot of pain, enough that I was contemplating leaving. There was a booth with a sign that said stop pain naturally so I stopped. I sprayed 2 - 3 sprays on my arm and shoulder and lightly rubbed the oil in. My arm and shoulder were tender to the touch and they told me the oil would absorb into my skin in 10 to 15 minutes if not rubbed in and it did absorb. I walked off and in 10 minutes the burning sensation and pain in my arm and shoulder were barely noticeable. Trust me - I was shocked. I went back and bought a bottle and have been using it for 2 weeks. In the morning, during the day when I have pain and before I go to bed. I am in less pain and when I am in pain the oil takes the edge off in 10 minutes. I was happy to actually find relief.

Here is the information from the bottle:

Ashten, I don't know your situation, but you sound sort of like me and my situation, only I am a single mom and afraid to take all sorts of different kinds of drugs because the first one I tried split me and my family apart and made me temporarily a bad parent with lack of function.

What is your doctor situation like? Do you have an internist (interal medicine) versus a common family practitioner? I found a list of doctors here in Houston on a 'good doctor list' I'll be calling tomorrow to find out if I can get in somewhere. Without health insurance, I know my journey'll be difficult. If you want I can get you the list?

dear tarantula17,
i recently had to move because my fibro got so bad that i can no longer work, so i moved in with family in Virginia. i have a new doctor, he is just a family practitioner though. i also have no health insurance. i am applying for disability but ive heard that its a really long stressfull process that can take up to 2 years and most people have to apply more than once because they are denied the first time. anyways, in regards to your commet about the "good doctor list" yes i wud definately appreciate that, but i live in virginia, so is it a national list? or if u cud tell me how u found this then i cud look up the ones here in Roanoke?

Honey I totally understand what you are saying. I am currently in one of the worse flare-ups that I have had in 4 yrs. I was diagonosed with FM when I was 20. I am now 32 and have had some really tough years. I went through a custody battle on year and was on crutches for months from all the stress. I was in an abusive marriage for 2 yrs so that was just one constant flare-up and so on. I spent a year and a half trying all the docs miracle drugs until I finally came across one. Ultram (Tramadol) has been my god sent up until now. But it has helped me through it all. I think maybe after all these years I have finally built up a tolorance. I don't take them everyday unless I am in a flare-up but occasionally I will take them here and there if I had a bad night or something. But I highly recomend at least trying them. Also I found a topical gel that I have had good short term results with. It is called Blue Stop. I will include the web site for you. Like I said that is for the not as bad days. I do hope that these things will help lessen your pain. Pains free days ahead...somewhere I promise!!!

My best friend had Fibromyalgia for over 2 years, and together we tried everything we could think of, and nothing worked as well for her as this.. and it's so simple...

Lifelixer mixed with Cherry Juice three times a day.

The site had some great testimonials on it, and we were willing to try ANYTHING to make my friends pain go away....

Check it out...

http://www.lifelixer.net.au

Its worth a try - it worked for us.

A holistic health doctor taught me how to save the quality of my life when he helped me get over fibromyalgia in 1996. What you put into your body does make a huge impact on it's performance. Detoxing, eliminating food sensitivities, and eating healthy are so much more likely to be helpful than taking a bunch of pain and antidepressant medications.
