Hi all, I am new to this forum but I was formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia 18 months ago. Of course I refused to believe it and after 4 years of pain, I still doubt it. However, for want of any other diagnosis I will accept it for now.
I am almost recovered. The process has taken 18 months and I see a time when I can say I no longer have it.
The trigger point that started it all off 4 years ago released 2 weeks ago and every couple of days, another muscle/soft tissue releases and I have more movement and less pain.
At its worst I couldn't turn my head, I haven't been able to shrug my shoulders, and I suffered from both shoulders freezing etc. My back was so tight I couldn't even reach the handle bars of my pushbike.
Now I only have the occassionaly ache to remind me and some muscle tightness but I can say, I am 99% free of it.
How did I do it?
1. Take 1 x 10mg Endap pill each night so I don't wake up constantly. Not a sleeping pill.
2. Local anesthetic injections into the trigger points
3. Start by stretching my legs and arms. It took 2 wks b4 I could lay on my back with one leg bent and the other straight.
4. Join a gym and go to body balance (combination of tai chi, yoga and pilates)
5. Use the gym equipment without any weights to remind the muscles how they are supposed to move. Could only use 3 to start with and still can not use with weights yet but that is coming.
6. Keep moving
To all thjose with pain and just diagnosed, it hurts but mild stretching is the starting point. I found if I stretched too much to start with, it would just set me back.
Good luck to you all
PS. My mind has stareted working again too. It feels good not to have a brick for a brain.
