Hi--
I saw a question in the "ask a Q" section about a good mattress (I don't own stock in the company nor do I get kickbacks for recommending it!)
I've had FM for 2.5 years. Until about a year ago I had a "typical" mattress. After checking out a Tempurpedic mattress at my bro's house and at a sleep clinic, I knew I wanted one. Sure it's pricey (there are cheaper alternatives than the brand name) but it made a HUGE difference.
With the old mattress, the "pressure points" hurt: shoulders, hips, knees, elbows, etc. The temperpedic lets those areas "sink in" and there is no more "pressure" pain. The rest of the body remains supported. I really like it--I think it has really helped my quality of sleep.
When I had my first of three sleep studies, it was on a temperpedic bed (this was before I had gotten mine). I remember being really surprised when I woke up 8 hours later. Even though I had all those stinkin' wires attached, I felt I had slept better than I ever had before. I think I even woke up in the same position in which I had fallen asleep.
They offer a 90 day "try out" period, but it doesn't apply if you go and buy it in a store--I think you have to buy it online or something. You can also get on their website for a listing of hotels that use Tempurpedic beds so you can try it out before you buy.
I've also heard good things about the "air" mattresses that are used in hospitals (no pressure points means no bed sores).
good sleeping,
