I have fibromyalgia and have recently started a new job as a mail carrier substitute. Up until last week, I haven't noticed any increase in pain or stiffness due to this; but last week, I had to carry the mail for 6 days in a row while the regular carrier was on vacation.
By the Thursday night, I was waking up with my hands falling asleep and they were swollen and very achy the next day. I'm assuming this is from handling the mail (I drive 108 miles and deliver to 486 boxes). They continued to get worse through Saturday and Sunday. This is Tuesday, and they are still bothering me a little more than usual.
I had entered this job hoping to make it full-time eventually because it is such a good job with benefits and great pay, but now I am beginning to wonder if I've made the right decision or not.
My husband says maybe I just need to get used to it and maybe I'm having these problems because I'm not used to it yet. I'd appreciate any opinions anyone has.
Thanks _________________ Darla Williams |

It sounds as if you may have overexerted yourself with the more strenuous situation. It is very difficult for anyone to tell you for sure whether or not this job is right for you. On one hand, if the stress and physical demands of the job cause a decline in your health, then the job is probably not appropriate for you. However, on the other hand, the sense of freedom and accomplishment that a job brings can affect your mood and mental outlook in a very positive way. This is an important consideration! I think that you should take a step back from the situation and look at it from the perspective that this is a decision that you can actively make, not just passively accept. While this may seem a small distinction, it matters greatly. You must be confident that you can make the decision that is best for you and realize that you have the power to positively affect your future.
There are many other things that you can do in order to support your health during this time. Dr. Group has developed a product called Fibro-Balance that is specifically to support someone with Fibromyalgia. This product will debut on the next free Global Healing Center newsletter. Many Fibromyalgia sufferers also use NutraCool™ topically as well as taking Oregano Oil Rx internally. It is also recommended to perform a complete colon, liver/gallbladder, and parasite cleanse as outlined at http://www.ghchealth.com/liver-and-gallbladder-flush.html. All of Dr. Group’s recommendations can be found in his eBook, “Fibromyalgia Secrets Revealed.” |
