I was just diagnosed with FM, although I too am sceptical, since my symptoms seem to fit several other diseases as well. When I was in my early teens I was tested for lupus because I had the butterfly rash. I have no idea what the diagnosis was. About 9 years ago I had trigeminal neuralgia with extreme burning, pain and stiffness in my extremeties, as well as sciatica. I underwent many tests and none of the specialists could not provide a single diagnosis to explain all my sypmtoms. I chose no treatment and the symptoms went away in a few months. In September I started having joint pain (all joints) and stiffness, some burning in my hands and forearms. I cannot remain in one position for more than 10 minutes. I'm 45 but move about like an 80 yo. In the last six wks my breasts have become extremely painful. This us not menstrual or pregnancy related. My doc put me on nortryptiline for pain mgmt but Im only on day two of a five week ramp up regimineso no change yet. I welcome feedback !
