Pregnancy with fibro

Postby Jessie on Fri Jul 21, 2006 7:37 pm

OK, I've had fibromyalgia for a couple years and I am 10 weeks pregnant now. I knew there would be issues with this, but we really wanted this baby so it's what I want.

My question is this--what can I do to get to sleep? I'm afraid to take my sleeping pills, but I'm just not getting much sleep at all and the sleep I do get is not great. I wake up a lot. Is there anything safe to take at all? The pharmacist I asked actually laughed at me and told me to drink warm milk! My doctor's apt isn't until Aug. 1st.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! (Also, pain relief suggestions. I've heard that for a lot of women the pain subsides during pregnancy until about the 7th month. Not so for me.)

I'm not trying to whine, I swear. It'll all be worth it in the end, but in the meantime . . . .HELP!!! Thanks. :)

Congratulations on the pregnancy! There are a couple of options that you can try in order to feel better and get some much-needed rest. The first suggestion is to try the RestQuiet sleep patches. These do not introduce anything in to the body but instead work in the following way, according to the manufacturer:

It is believed that Rest Quiet helps the body’s own natural meridians balance by application of the Rest Quiet Patch to acupuncture points which help a quiet nights sleep. We have found that the placement on the right temple (Tungtzuliao-GB 1 and Taiyang - extra point between the ear and right eye brow) or on the inside of the right ankle (Taihsi - K3, Shichuan - K5, and Zhaogai - K6) helps the body with a restful and quiet night's sleep. Since the patch is large in diameter, unlike a needle, it radiates to more than one point on the affected meridian when placed in the vicinity of the acupuncture points.

Regarding the pain, I would suggest trying NutraCool™ topical cream. NutraCool™ can be used at the site of discomfort to help maintain normal inflammation levels locally and to reduce pain impulses. It has been used by many Fibro sufferers as well as for occasional aches, pains, sprains, and inflammation. People often notice better results from prolonged use.
