Hi, I am new here and your post was one of the first I looked at. I am recently diagnosed and new to all of this stuff.

Currently, I am taking Tylenol #3 and occasionally a Soma at the same time (per doctor's orders of course). It seems to relieve my symptoms enough to at least get through my work day without tears. The doc that prescribed it though is my family doctor, prior to my fibro diagnosis. I'm waiting on referral to a rheumatologist and I hope he won't change what is currently working! I also take Pristiq every evening.

I have this neck massager thing and I basically live with my heating pad. I too try to get at least a little exercise everyday, and while it hurts while I'm doing it, overall I think it relieves my symptoms a little bit in the long run.

I have tried other medications like Tramadol and even Vicodin-like medicines, but they give me horrendous headaches, almost like hangover headaches - not worth it to me.

Hello Tippy Toes,

I would highly recommend bowen therapy technique for managing the pain of fibromyalgia. It is a natural treatment where the practioner uses mostly fingers and thumbs on very specific points on the body to generate neurological impulses which relax all of the muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves in the body. The treatments are very gentle and relaxing. The first 2-3 treatments would be spaced a week apart. After that, treatments would be spaced as far apart as your body will allow...some may need a treatment every 4-6 weeks, other a couple of times a year. Everybody is different. http://www.universitypainclinic.ca

Hope that helps. If you decide to try it, let me know if you need help finding a practitioner in your area.

The only thing that gives me some relief from pain is my TINS unit. I do not take any medication anymore because nothing helps.
